Hard Candy claims that you can cover a tattoo with Glamoflauge, and, while many people have stated that its not possible, it can certainly be done with a bit of effort and a few steps. I believe there are only two or three shades of the pencil, but its designed to function like a lip liner and simply remove/neutralize pigment before you apply the concealer so that you need less product, and for that purpose it most certainly works well. (Long-Wearing formulas tend to dry much darker.) Because it doesn't set, you can be assured that there will be a certain level of color purity as the day wears on and that's a huge plus.Īnother bonus is the included pencil which is a pretty decent pencil by itself. (Initially, there was only Light, Medium and Tan.) One thing to note about choosing a shade is that it runs light, very light, but this is common with emollient formulas. The shade range is somewhat limited, although they have improved it recently by adding Ultra Light and Light/Medium. The chunkiness is something that has been an issue with Hard Candy's Just Face It Foundation (which works well with the Glamouflage concealer), but they seem to have corrected the foundation formula and are now thoroughly mixing it.Īside from the initial uneven texture (which is NOT noticeable upon application,) there really isn't anything negative about the formula for Glamouflage, infact, its actually a quite formidable performer and an excellent concealer for any price, let alone for $6. The initial texture is very thick and creamy, but it can be a little chalkier than some of the high end liquid emollient concealers like Tarte Marcuja Concealer or Stila Perfecting Concealer. Hard Candy Glamoflauge is petroleum based just like Laura Mercier Secret Concealer or Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer, but unlike Laura & Bobbi's, Hard Candy is a liquid. Personally, I prefer to use an emollient concealer under my eyes for dark circles because they're less likely to dry out and cake up which only makes fine lines and wrinkles worse. Kat Von D's Lock it Tattoo Concealer and Makeup Forever's Full Coverage Concealer, are both Oil-Free, Long Lasting formulas with a self-setting matte finish, whereas Glamouflage is an emollient based concealer and will have to be set with powder unless you have very dry skin. Hard Candy Glamoflauge differs from the afore mentioned concealers in quite a few ways, but the main difference is the formula. This product is great for highlighting and mixing with Hard Candy’s Illuminating Drops, this thins out the consistency and creates a nice highlight on any area of the face you want highlighted, and creases less under the eyes when mixed with the liquid. Many people compare Hard Candy's Gamoflauge with rival concealers like Kat Von D's Lock it Tattoo concealer or Makeup Forever's Full Coverage Concealer, because of the pigmentation they offer, but the truth is, Hard Candy Glamouflage has absolutely nothing (aside from coverage) in common with Kat Von D or M.U.F.E's versions. You also have time to work with this concealer which is nice, since it does require some extra blending. This concealer is best blended out in two steps, first with a synthetic eyeshadow or small concealer brush – check out Xo Beauty’s Dual Ended Paddle Brush – followed by a damp Beauty Blender to eliminate streakiness or patchiness. I’ve seen it compared to the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer, but I do believe that concealer is quite a bit thinner than this and easier to work with. It creases horribly, but other than that it works on everything else. I wouldn’t recommend this concealer under the eyes simply due to the thick consistency. This concealer is great for pimples, birthmarks, scarring, hyperpigmentation, or mixing in with a foundation for extra coverage as you would use Cover Fx Custom Cover Drops. It is meant to cover tattoos, and even has instructions on the packaging for how to do so. It has the same thick consistency, the same coverage, the same blend-ability. Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer is comparable 100% to the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer.
